About
the Wigton Methodist Church website
Why a website?
Our church building has recently been refurbished, largely due to necessity, both because the fabric of the building was in urgent need of repair and also to comply with accessibility regulations.
However, as often is the case, necessity provided the initial impetus but was not the driving force. The whole congregation embraced the vision of a brighter, friendlier, more accessible church building and, through external funding and many direct fund raising ventures, we now have the building we hoped for.
This website is an extension of that vision and just as we believe the new building reflects the warmth and welcome of our congregation we hope this site will be an inspiration to those who visit.
How to use this website
The site has been designed for optimum accessibility and hopefully all headings and links provide sufficient information for you to find your way around.
If you have a visual impairment or you are unable to navigate using a mouse or other such device the following facilities have been included in the site:
Tab index
Using the tab key on your keypad you can navigate through the links on each page. The running order has been arranged so that it is logical and hopefully you will get to where you want to in as few clicks as possible
Key Access
Certain key combinations will take you directly to the main pages of the site. Typically this is alt key plus other (Windows) or control key plus other (Mac). The other
keys are numbers 1 to 5 and are as follows:
- What's On
- What's New
- Contact Us
- And Finally
- Home
Visual/Non-visual conformity
The site is designed such that when viewed with a screen reader, it will read much the same as if read visually. All pictures have text equivalents and the order of information from top left to bottom right in a visual browser is much the same as from top to bottom for a screen reader.
